Cumin-Tempered Jeera Rice

Ingredients

  • 2 cups The Long Grain Co. Steam Basmati Rice
  • 3.5 cups water
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1.5 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 whole black peppercorns
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

    Wash and soak rice for 15 minutes. Drain.

    Heat ghee in a pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

    Add bay leaf and peppercorns. Sauté for 30 seconds.

    Add drained rice and gently stir for 1-2 minutes to toast slightly.

    Add water and salt. Bring to a boil.

    Reduce heat to lowest setting, cover tightly, and cook for 15 minutes.

    Turn off heat and let it rest covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and garnish with cilantro.
